Femme Arab lesbian + hijab

I’m a femme lesbian, most cant tell that I’m gay. I’ve been around queer presenting women a lot but for some reason I still haven’t found my own gay friend group. Wish I had that honestly, just friends to share these struggles with, bond, not feel judged. Especially that I wear the hijab and don’t fit in with the stereotype of queer girls in my community. I wish someone would accept that.

I don’t think I’m that femme presenting but also a hijabi.

Went to an event to support a musician who happens to be gay with an LGBT following with a male family member (only way was allowed to go). Couldn’t wear any flag pins or anything because very closeted and family was there with me.
but the shocking thing is that all the gay people were giving me the dirtiest looks. As if “how dare you and your homophobic ideology come into OUR space.”

It can be so isolating when it’s just you - neither accepted or able to let your guard down with family but also somehow isolated from the fellow people you actually “belong to” making assumptions about who you are or aren’t. I hope you find people around you to talk to and be yourself with.

I still don’t know how this platform works, if there’s messaging, chats etc. but if ever you feel isolated and need to talk to someone you can reach out any time

I think you are not alone in this feeling and most of us are as well. If you would like to talk to a girl like you, I am waiting for your message.
