If we are born gay, did god make us gay?

A+ A-

I actually had a research paper that I wrote about this and it was a really fun experience. I am gay and an atheist, however, it was interesting to understand a more religious perspective on the issue. I really want to know what more religious folks think about the issue and how they approach the issue of sexuality that may or may not clash with the views in their religion.

  • We are born gay so yes for those who believe in God then He made us that way

Religious people ask us to prove it but there is no proof. Everything about religion and identity is conceptual to most people. We believe what we want to believe regardless of scientific evidence or data. And for those who are religious, if they believe even in the weirdest miracles, who's to say they need facts to win an argument?

Existence of gay people is stated in the Quran in regards to the people of Lot, which implies that God the creator and giver of life made them.

You must remember though, religious conservatives nowadays say that being gay is an acquired trait due to lack of a manly figure in one's life because as its believed a baby is born perfect and its the environment they are in that shapes them.

Plus its also argued that even if you are gay or born gay, the act is forbidden and even telling about yourself is HIGHLY discouraged and made to seem shameful.

  • I wholeheartedly believe we were born asexual. Have you ever seen a baby sexually involved in a relationship? I doubt it. Homosexuality is something acquired as a result of so many reasons . One of them might be meeting a person whom you love and desire. It might be that person that opened your eye to the possibility of having relationships with people of the same sex.

That is because your hormones develop and increase over time. There are many kids around 4 - 5 years old that I have seen go up to the other sex and hug them constantly or kiss them constantly or maybe enjoy being around their company. Babies cannot be sexually involved because they don't know what sex is yet. Also, babies are not always around babies of the opposite sex so it is hard to really tell. Sex education is important and everybody understands or learns how to have sex from somewhere or someone. People don't magically know how sex works, especially not babies. However, that does not mean babies do not experience romantic attraction because they very well can but their way of expressing it can be very different from the way adults do.
